Learning Spanish

Through the guidance of tutor Lindsay the past 10 weeks of online Spanish lessons together with Lindsay’s knowledge of Spanish culture has set me up extraordinarily well (as reported in my blog to date) for my upcoming stay in Spain from where this blog will continue.

As the end of September was approaching and the end of my course of study with Lindsay coming to a conclusion an unexpected and kind invitation from the Federation of Small Business (FSB) to be the Guest Speaker at a breakfast members get together in Aberystwyth arrived!

When considering the prep towards my Spanish Language studies in Spain the opportunity to discuss the content with Lindsay ahead of time has proved invaluable and in turn I have looked to facilitate the next lesson by forwarding the materials I would like to have in focus ahead of time.

I am now at the half-way point of my 10 week beginners Spanish course which amongst a range of learning outcomes has importantly resulted in me getting to grips with the pronunciation through reading out loud practice online and being corrected on the way thanks to tutor Lindsay! Hands on and very practical!

What could be better than trying out the first 2 weeks of learning on a Spanish audience live for 4 days and in glorious sunshine and blue skies!

Ahead of meeting online with my Tutor Lindsay for lesson 4 of my Spanish course I wrote up a little piece of content that I would look to use in a potential business conversation with a customer prospect by way of an introduction to what my company www.signature-leather.com does together with a little background information.

July 5th and I thoroughly enjoyed my 2nd Spanish Language lesson with Tutor Lindsay.

The 27th June was day 1 of my delve into the Spanish Language through the guidance of Tutor Lindsay.

Our Blog is designed to capture the week to week progression of a complete beginner in the Spanish language undertaking a Spanish Language Course with Tutor Lindsay and then taking this 10 week (20 hours total) of Spanish Language learning to Spain for a further 12 weeks of intensive “in country” learning and practice!

1. What expectations do I have from the learner for self-study?

Reflecting on Tim’s 19 Episode Blog reflections I am delighted to add my conclusions from a Tutor perspective on how Tim’s Spanish Language learning developed during the new language journey that we undertook together.

As we head towards Christmas my in country Spanish CPD and Business adventure is concluding but it is such a pleasure to have the opportunity to spend my “Winter” 14th December birthday in the warmth of the Andaluz Atlantic sea air and to take in the Spanish Christmas decor!

This first week of December in Spain has brought to the fore the inextricable link between language and culture that studying a new language brings into focus which a language student has the opportunity to embrace.

The second part of November provided for one of the key events planned as part of my Spanish Language journey and that was to visit SICAB at the FIBES Convention Centre in Sevilla.

During the first part of November leading up to the terrible flooding disaster suffered in Valencia the main discussion on the news channel I have been tuning into, www.rtve.es  (which I will be highly recommending to Spanish language students as a wonderful source of “self learning” listening and learning ) was around the issue of La vivienda (Housing) and Alojamiento (Accommodation).

As mentioned in my previous Blog page 1/2 the beautiful beach area at Playa de la Barrosa is so very very calm throughout the week with hardly a soul around as per picture illustrations which of course provides such tranquility.

Now arrived in Spain and thanks to the kind hospitality of Rafa (the gentleman I am renting the house from) he has ensured transport to my new Autumn home is completely hassle free to start my stay which is so very much appreciated.
